本會為根據台灣法律及伊斯蘭教法設立、非以營利為目的之社會團體；以推動台灣伊斯蘭教務發展暨改善台灣穆斯林生活環境為宗旨；以提供正確伊斯蘭知識予台灣社會大眾為方式；以化解一般民眾對伊斯蘭的誤解為目標。

Islamic Association of Taiwan is a non-profit social group founded according to the laws of Taiwan and Islam, with the objectives of enhancing the development of Islam and of improving the living conditions of Muslims in Taiwan. By providing the general public with genuine Islamic knowledge, it aims at correcting the fallacies generally existing and the misunderstandings about Islam.

台灣伊斯蘭協會經內政部104年9月21日台內團字第10405305號函准予籌備後於2016年1月10日召開成立大會，並於105年4月6日台內團字第1050006590號函正式立案。內政部核准本會任務如下：

Islamic Association of Taiwan was founded on January 10, 2016. The registration number in Ministry of Interior is 1050006590. The missions of IAT approved by MOI are as follows:

一、開辦常態性伊斯蘭講座與課程。

1. Organize regular Islamic lectures and courses.

二、敦促政府修改法令以保障穆斯林權益。

2. Work with the government to amend the laws to protect the rights of Muslims.

三、辦理清真食品及用品之認證與推廣。

3. Arrange issuing and promoting halal food and halal product certification.

四、設立伊斯蘭教育機構(幼兒園、小學、中學、大學與研究所)。

4. Set up Islamic educational institutes (kindergartens, elementary schools, high schools, colleges, and graduate schools).

五、舉辦國際伊斯蘭交流活動，例如：伊斯蘭生活營、穆斯林遊學團、穆斯林參訪團、朝覲團等。

5. Organize international activities for the interchange of Islamic societies, such as Islamic camps, Muslim study tours, Muslim package tours, Hajj and Umrah packages, etc.

六、設立清真寺、兒童及少年福利機構、中途之家、老人福利機構、活動中心及伊斯蘭墓園。

6. Set up mosques, children and youths welfare institutions, shelter, senior citizens' welfare institutions, activity centers and Islamic cemetery.

七、發行伊斯蘭雜誌並開設伊斯蘭廣播電視節目與頻道。

7. Publish Islamic magazines and establish Islamic radio and TV programs and channels.

八、推展伊斯蘭金融系統與產品。

8. Promote Islamic financial system and products.
